AMTD News | Global Fintech Institute and World Science & Technology Publishing Company will jointly publish the Journal of Fintech

Recently, the Global Fintech Institute (GFI) announced that it has reached an agreement with World Science & Technology Publishing Company (WSPC) on the joint publication of the Journal of Fintech (JFT) and the joint publication of related course materials. The two parties held an online signing ceremony in the afternoon of the same day to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation. H.E. Dr. Serey Chea, Assistant Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, and Mr. Sopnendu Mohanty, Chief Fintech Officer of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), attended the signing ceremony and witnessed the signing of the MOU.

As part of the cooperation, the Global Fintech Institute has become an official partner of the Journal of Fintech. The Institute will encourage its members to submit papers to the journal and actively promote the journal. After signing the MOU, the Academy will organize various seminars and select papers and manuscripts for a special issue. Prof. David LEE, the Academy's chairman and co-founder, will be appointed as the co-editor of the journal.

At the same time, the Global Fintech Academy has designated World Technology Publishing as its official publisher to publish digital textbooks for the Chartered Fintech Professional (CFtP) course. The Global Fintech Academy exclusively authorizes World Technology Publishing to publish and distribute the first edition and subsequent relevant versions of the English version of the course textbooks in different forms and media worldwide. In return, candidates for the Chartered Fintech Professional qualification certificate will receive the online version of the relevant textbooks free of charge, and the digital materials and other content will be provided online reading services on the World Technology Publishing website.

The Chartered Fintech Professional qualification certificate aims to promote the development of the fintech industry, enhance the industry's professional literacy, and provide a way for professionals from other industries who want to start a career in the fintech industry.

At the event that afternoon, Dr. Xie Li and Mr. Mohanty also delivered important keynote speeches on topics such as the inclusion of digital finance and the basic knowledge of digital finance, which are topics that fintech educators and regulators attach great importance to and care about.

The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the development and application of global digital finance, raised the professional requirements of the fintech industry, and more emerging digital finance themes related to green finance and sustainable finance have emerged around the world. Bain & Company's "e-Conomy SEA 2020 Report" pointed out that the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled more and more people to use online tools to stay connected, resulting in the large-scale application of digital services. With approximately 40 million new users adopting digital technologies by 2020, bringing the total number of internet users in the region to 400 million, it is estimated that 70% of Southeast Asia’s population is now online.
