AMTD News | Hong Kong Journalists Association appoints Dr. Calvin Choi as new Honorary President

 

 

Recently, Dr. Eric Choi, Chairman of AMTD Group, together with Law Kai-sui, Chairman of Sun Fook Kong Group, and Ho Chiu-king, Group Executive Chairman and Managing Director of Shun Tak Holdings Limited, were invited to serve as Honorary Presidents of the Hong Kong Federation of Journalists. .

 

The Hong Kong Journalists Federation was established in 1996. Its members come from more than 30 media, including print media, electronic media, websites, media education institutions, and heads of communications departments of large companies. With more than 1,000 members, it has become the news group with the widest membership coverage and the largest number of members in Hong Kong. .

The Federation has six purposes: 1. To safeguard freedom of speech and freedom of the press and assume social responsibilities; 2. To safeguard the rights and dignity of journalists; 3. To maintain the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong; 4. To promote the cooperation between Hong Kong’s news industry and the mainland, Taiwan and Macao Exchanges and cooperation with international news colleagues; 5. Strengthen communication, exchange and cooperation with local news groups and peer organizations; 6. Improve professional standards and ethics, and strengthen industry training.

Over the years, the Federation has followed the above-mentioned purposes and focused on carrying out training work for the Hong Kong industry. It has jointly organized national conditions classes and business training classes with Peking University, Tsinghua University, National School of Administration, Fudan University, Pudong Cadre College, Guangzhou Jinan University, and Shantou University. Organize mid- to high-level members of Hong Kong’s media circles to participate. At the same time, it also organized local media to conduct interviews in the mainland to report on the latest social and economic developments in the mainland, which was well received by the industry and society. In the past two years, we have also organized interviews with countries and regions along the Belt and Road, including Kazakhstan and Tajikistan in Central Asia, as well as Southeast Asian countries such as Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.
