The government announced in the gazette that Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor has appointed six members of the Social Workers Registration Board, including former Director of Correctional Services and current AMTD Group Executive Vice Chairman Sin Yat Kin, JP , for a three-year term, effective from January 16. The Social Workers Registration Board consists of 15 members, one of whom is a representative of the Social Welfare Department.

The government gazetted the announcement and Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor officially announced the appointment.
